MIJ - MONOLITHIC INSULATION JOINT
PetroSan Oilfield Engineering Co. is the precise manufacturer and fabricator of monolithic insulation joints (MIJs), a welded prefabricated three-piece union used for pipeline electrical sectioning and frequently used when cathodic protection is present to prevent any interference with corrosion control.
We are one the prestigious fabricators and suppliers of API 5L insulation joint of monolithic (MIJ) for pipeline size 1 inch to 48 inch.
Pipelines with insulating joints are used to provide electrical isolation and stop corrosion. They offer cathodic protection systems current spreading. They offer electrical isolation between the pipeline segment and the nearby pipelines and structures. To reduce the chance of electrical bridging across the joint, the PetroSan Oilfield Engineering Co. insulating joint is designed to be installed above ground or in an inspection pit under dry conditions, if possible. The plan is to fuse the girth between two segments of the pipeline.
PeteoSan – MIJ Features and benefits :
- No integrity loss brought on by ground stress or thermal expansion, which is typical with flange isolation gasket kits.
- tested electrically and hydrostatically at the factory up to 1.5 times the operating pressure. There is also non-destructive testing offered.
- dependable, low-maintenance cathodic isolation of machinery in necessary isolation applications, such compressor stations.
- Unlike isolation gasket kits, which need a labor-intensive, complex installation process.
- Cathodic isolation that is dependable and worry-free, with no need for inspection pits, vaults, or maintenance — simply weld into place and directly bury.
- Epoxy coatings that are non-conductive aid in preventing internal and external shorts.
- Isolation stray currents that are imprinted on the pipe by external forces such earth currents, electrical transmission networks, and point-to-point currents.
- superior resistance to torsional strain and bending.
It functions as a thrust block or joint and is earthquake resistant.
While the pup length is determined to safeguard the joint’s mechanical and electrical integrity throughout the welding process, the construction directed toward the connecting pipes ensures a comparable overall strength and matches every internal dimension to permit the pig to pass through as smoothly as feasible.
ADVANTAGES - MIJ
- No maintenance is necessary.
- Dimensions: NPS 0.75 to 48.0 inches in diameter.

Physical Property :
- Monolithic Insulating Joint bodies are welded constructions constructed of thick metal sheets (carbon or low alloy structural steel).
- Results of measurements and tests are published in the documentation that comes with our goods.
Electrical properties :
- The use of high-class insulating materials ensures quality.
- The use of interchangeable spark gaps
- No sparking or breakdown during the electrical test with an alternating voltage of 5 kV (50 Hz) for 1 minute (test done before and after hydrostatic test).
- The resistance of monolithic insulating joints exceeds 1GΩ at 1kV in dry state.
- There was no breakdown at a voltage of 15 ÷ 25 kV (depending on requirements) during holiday testing for external insulation coating.
MIJ – Material Grades :
